About BHS Market

BHS Market is the classifieds marketplace for The Bahamas. People and dealers on every island post ads for boats, cars, homes, furniture, electronics, jobs and services, and buyers contact them directly. Posting is free; deals happen in person.

How it works

  1. Search or browse by island. Every ad is tagged with its island and area, so you can look at New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco or any other island on its own.
  2. Message the seller inside BHS Market. Phone numbers stay private until a seller chooses to share theirs.
  3. Meet, inspect, pay in person. There is no cart and no checkout. You and the seller agree the deal.

Questions and answers

What is BHS Market?

BHS Market is a classifieds marketplace for The Bahamas at bhsmarket.com. People and dealers post ads for boats, cars, real estate, furniture, electronics, jobs and services, and buyers contact them directly. It is not a shop: there is no cart and no checkout, you deal with the seller.

Which islands does BHS Market cover?

All of them. Every ad is tagged with an island, from New Providence (Nassau) and Grand Bahama (Freeport) to Abaco, Eleuthera, Exuma, Andros, Long Island, Bimini, Cat Island, San Salvador, the Berry Islands, Acklins and Crooked Island, Mayaguana, Inagua, Ragged Island and Rum Cay, and you can browse each island on its own page.

How much does it cost to post an ad?

Posting is free for private sellers. Sellers can pay to promote an ad: a featured ad sits at the top of its category and the homepage for 7 or 30 days. Dealers and agents get bulk tools and a storefront on a monthly plan.

How do I contact a seller?

Every ad has a Message button. Conversations happen inside BHS Market, and phone numbers stay hidden until the seller chooses to share theirs with you in the chat.

How do auctions work?

Some ads are auctions. Bidding is open for 3 to 14 days from the day the ad is approved. Each bid must beat the current bid by a set increment, bids placed in the last five minutes extend the auction by five minutes, and when it closes the highest bidder wins, provided any reserve was met. The winner and seller then arrange payment and handover between themselves.

What are the prices in?

Bahamian dollars (BSD), which are at par with the US dollar. Rentals are quoted per month.

Is it safe?

Inspect before you pay, meet in person in a public place, and never wire a deposit for something you have not seen. Sellers with a verified identity carry a Verified badge, and you can report any ad to us.

Can I use BHS Market from Telegram?

Yes. Message the bot @BHSMarketBot on Telegram: send it a photo with a short caption and it drafts an ad for you, and it can alert you when you are outbid, an auction ends, a buyer writes or your ad is approved.
